Jonathan joined The Engel Burman Group in 2004, starting out in a hands-on role at the job sites, and working his way up to Partner. He is now one of two Partners who run the day-to-day operations of the EB Construction division. In the last three years, EB Construction has tripled its workload, and Jonathan has been instrumental in the success of such growth – making decisions, adjustments and additions as necessary to support that growth while maintaining the productivity and level of quality expected of The Engel Burman Group. In this leadership role, he has been involved in half a billion dollars of new construction from the ground up, including several new construction and gut rehabilitation projects.
Jonathan led the teams that constructed The Seasons at Plainview and East Meadow, 401 Franklin Avenue in Garden City, over a dozen assisted living communities, and created a pad ready site for the Super Stop and Shop in Oceanside. The impressive portfolio of Engel Burman properties continues to grow – managed by Jonathan and the EB Construction team – and includes residential multifamily, mid-rise condominiums, assisted living communities, as well as commercial, retail and industrial space.
Jonathan has taken an active role in developing a customer service protocol for The Engel Burman Group’s for-purchase communities – outlining procedures, responsibilities, and expectations of the construction team. The system ensures staff accountability, and ultimately homeowner satisfaction. He also helped to create an in-house work force to perform and track various tasks to ensure that deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
To stay active and involved within the industry, Jonathan is a Builder Director of the Long Island Builders Institute (LIBI), an association of building industry professionals who are dedicated to making Long Island a better place to live and work. He is also an Officer and a Director of Long Island Home Builders Care (LIHBC), a 501 (c)(3), and the charitable arm of LIBI. Through LIHBC, Jonathan has helped set up and run many fundraising events, has served on the annual Charitable Walk committee, has chaired the annual golf outing the past two years, and headed up special projects, including rehabbing and renovating two homes on Long Island for families in need.
Jonathan earned his BA in Regional Development and Business Management from the University of Arizona. He spends his free time with his wife, Jamie, and their three daughters: Dylan, Harper and Sawyer.
